{"id":803,"date":"2019-05-30T13:22:12","date_gmt":"2019-05-30T13:22:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kme.com.cy\/?p=803"},"modified":"2019-05-30T13:22:12","modified_gmt":"2019-05-30T13:22:12","slug":"moneyval-report-on-cyprus-due-in-december","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kme.com.cy\/?p=803","title":{"rendered":"Moneyval report on Cyprus due in December"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A report on Cyprus by the Council of Europe`s Committee of Experts for the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (Moneyval) is due this December.<\/p>\n<p>According to a relevant announcement, a Moneyval delegation carried out an onsite visit to Cyprus from 13 to 24 May 2019. The delegation was composed of MONEYVAL experts with a legal, law enforcement and financial background and supported by members of the Moneyval Secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation has been received by the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus and the Advisory Authority on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML\/CFT), co-chaired by the FIU and the Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n<p>It is added that the delegation met with the authorities responsible for Cyprus`s AML\/CFT system (such as competent ministries, criminal justice and operational agencies, financial sector bodies and supervisors of businesses and professions with AML\/CFT obligations). The delegation also held meetings with a great number of private stakeholders (financial institutions, trust and company service providers, lawyers, real estate agents and casino) and representatives from non-profit organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation is tasked with analyzing \u2013 in the form of a mutual evaluation report &#8211; Cyprus\u2019s level of compliance with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) 40 Recommendations and the level of effectiveness of Cyprus\u2019s AML\/CFT system, and with providing recommendations on how the system could be strengthened.<\/p>\n<p>The report will be scheduled for discussion and adoption at Moneyval\u2019s 59th Plenary meeting, on December 3-6, 2019, the announcement concludes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A report
